We lost a music pioneer on April 8th - Malcolm McLaren. Best-known as the manager of the Sex Pistols, he achieved the notoriety he sought – and which never left him – when the band's anti-establishment single "God Save The Queen", released during the Queen's Silver Jubilee, was banned from the airwaves by the BBC and the Independent Broadcasting Authority.

Malcom died of lung cancer, and it's rumored that exposure to asbestos while tearing out the ceiling in his clothing shop, "Sex," is what caused his mesothelioma some 30 years later. He kept his illness quiet, and most were quite unaware of his illness, until he took a sudden, and quick, turn for the worse. Despite their differences over his handling of the Sex Pistols money in the past, John Lydon said in a statement, “For me Malc was always entertaining, and I hope you remember that. Above all else he was an entertainer and I will miss him, and so should you.”
We will, Johnny, we will.
