First Week of December, 2009 - Happy Holidays!
After gorging on turkey & all the trimmings, Alternative 80's is back! No stale leftovers here - lots of tasty tracks from the 80's, with a a sprinkle of Alternative Christmas music to whet your appetite for our Christmas podcast, which is coming up next week in time for the holidays.
We start this week's podcast with a crankin' tune by Tim Scott, who said this on his website: "This was my young and confused record...I wrote the songs over a couple of weeks on a little Casio keyboard...Sire heard it and offered me a deal...no use apologizing for such a thing...my mistake... the good part of it was working with Richard Gottehrer ...really took me under his wing...shame we were working on the wrong kind of music....."
If you listen really close, you can hear the Go-Go's Jane Wiedlin singing background vocals.
Enjoy!

Week of 10/25/2009 - Meet Jonka!
Welcome to the Week of October 25th, 2009! Quite a loud, cranking podcast this week - just check out the playlist! We've tried expanding a bit, including more alternative selections, introducing you to some bands you may have missed back in the 80's, but really shouldn't have. This week includes selections from Canada's "Blue Peter" and Berlin's "Picnic at The Whitehouse."
Also this week, we get the chance to meet a new band from Brooklyn, New York - Jonka. They explain their sound the best - "Jonka is a love story. The grandson of a blind subway musician. A Kindergarten teacher from Brooklyn. They found love and they found a voice. Jonka grew up in the 1980's at a time when music and production emanated a larger than life sound. This permeates the music. Together they've created a marriage of pop, synthesizers, dance and rock." Their track' "The Nana Song" is featured this week. Be sure to check them out at www.myspace.com/jonkamusic , as well as on Facebook. Their new CD, "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" is available on iTunes and CD Baby.com
Be sure to crank up this week's podcast - it's made that way!
